POSTPONED: Autumn Farm Walk – Wiltshire
September 8, 2021 @ 10:30 am - 1:30 pm
Join us at the farm of Robert and Maria Mallett, and their son David, at Northleaze Farm near Swindon. Their herd of 230 autumn block calving pedigree Holsteins are milked 3 times a day. The yield is 11,800 litres sold, with over 3,600 litres from forage. Sexed semen is used to provide female replacements for the herd. Beef semen is used on the reminder of the herd, and a beef calf rearing enterprise has recently been set up. A paddock grazing system is used to maximise grass utilisation, supported by regular grass measurements and the use of Agrinet. Recent investments in the farm have included tracks, water troughs and reseeding which have contributed to reduced feed costs.
This walk has been postponed to Spring 2022.
